Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a surgical procedure where your doctor makes small (about 1-centimeter) incisions or cuts on your abdomen so they can see inside your abdomen or pelvic area. Laparoscopic surgery uses specialized surgical equipment that sends images from inside the body to a video screen outside the body. This allows your doctor to work through tiny, controlled incisions rather than a large incision made during open surgery.
