ABOUT US

Dr Regis Elijah is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in Gynae-oncology. He is a Fellow of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa, FCOG (SA). He also graduated with a Masters of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MMED (O&G) from the University of Cape Town, for his thesis, Title: ADVANCED ABDOMINAL PREGNANCY: diagnosis, evaluation and surgical management in a resource constrained setting. He was awarded the Golden Speculum award for his research.

He started his medical career by obtaining the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, MBChB, from the University of Zimbabwe. He also obtained the Diploma in HIV Management of the College of Family Physicians of South Africa and Diploma in Obstetrics of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa. 

He fell in love with Mpumalanga when he spent 4 and half years at Rob Ferreira hospital, in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology where he served the marginalised women of Mpumalanga. He considers Nelspruit his second home. When he was ready to join University of Cape Town to train as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, he based his thesis on the patients that he helped manage from Rob Ferreira hospital.

His competences include but not limited to Obstetric ultrasound scanning, amniocentesis, bedside echocardiography, Normal vaginal deliveries, operative vaginal deliveries (Forceps and Vacuum), external cephalic version, emergency breech deliveries, caesarean deliveries, Gynaecology ultrasound scanning, hysteroscopy, colposcopy, infertility management, laparoscopy, open gynaecological surgery and vaginal operations, family planning and contraceptive services, management of paediatric gynaecology and most aspects of gynae-oncology, Urogynae and gynae-endocrine and mature women.
